PEMF

Dr. Pawluk wrote, "It should be a simple matter to use almost any form of PEMF to the chest, for a minimum of 15 to 30 minutes every day, and additionally the rest of the body. The optimal conditions have not been defined yet. Because the burden of inflammation is systemic and even slightly high blood sugar levels and abdominal fat produce inflammatory molecules that enter the circulation and affect the heart, daily whole-body stimulation makes the most sense.
Turning Off Severe Afib with the Spectra-Mini What is afib? According to the Mayo Clinic website: “Atrial fibrillation is an irregular and often rapid heart rate that can increase your risk of strokes, heart failure and other heart-related complications.

“During atrial fibrillation, the heart's two upper chambers (the atria) beat chaotically and irregularly — out of coordination with the two lower chambers (the ventricles) of the heart. Atrial fibrillation symptoms often include heart palpitations, shortness of breath and weakness.”

A few months back, my doctor noticed that I was in afib when I was in her office. She immediately hooked me up to an electrocardiograph but by that time, the afib had turned off. I was acutely aware of the risk this presented and I went through some more tests that found some minor irregularities but no more afib.
Then one night about midnight after I had gone to bed, I got a stressful message on my phone.

It seemed to indicate that I was at financial risk so I had to take some time right then to prevent any loss. This procedure did not go smoothly and I was frustrated.

Suddenly, I felt myself go into severe afib. It felt like my heart was clanging around erratically in my chest. I briefly wondered if I should get myself to a hospital. I started to try various actions to get myself to calm down. If I could get the afib to turn off, then I would be okay.

I stroked my chest rhythmically. I rubbed my sternum up and down. I just tried to chill despite the fact that this physical phenomenon was highly disturbing.

My heart kept clanging erratically and severely. If my heart had been a motor, I felt like it would have been heading for a breakdown.

I couldn’t bring about any change for two full hours, from 1 AM to 3 AM. Finally, I thought to pull out my PEMF pad. I hooked it up to my Spectra-Mini, laid it across my chest and turned it on high.

The next thing that happened was that I woke up in the daylight with the PEMF pad still laying on my chest. It seemed like the afib must have turned off pretty quickly and I had gone into a normal sleep. I was so stressed while I was in afib that there was no going to sleep with that discomfort going on. I woke up feeling fine and normal. This taught me a lesson about using the PEMF pad to maintain my health—and my life!—that is backed up by plenty of science.

What are Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields and What Can They Do?

What would you think if I said:
There’s a harmless device that helps your cells open their protective membranes so they let in more oxygen…
As your cells open these membranes, they can also take in more nutrition…
At the same time, your cells can more easily eliminate waste products to be whisked away by your bloodstream.
You might conclude that there might be a way to help your body heal and refresh itself more easily. And you would be right.

I’m referring to a painless, affordable device I’ve discovered that delivers Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields, that you can use in the privacy of your own home, whenever you want. These therapeutic electromagnetic fields—abbreviated as PEMF— provide the benefits I’ve listed above.

Personally, I was extremely impressed when I discovered this device. Like most people, I didn’t understand what PEMF was or what it could do. I had a misconception that all these fields could do was dilate blood vessels to improve circulation. But now you can see that PEMF offers so many other benefits.
This discovery has huge ramifications for anyone seeking to improve their health, longevity and cognitive ability.

What is an Electromagnetic Field?

At some point in your life, you’ve put two magnets close together and noticed how they either forced each other apart or attracted each other strongly. You were experiencing magnetic fields.
A rapidly changing magnetic field can create a current in an electric motor which then drives that motor. Each change of the magnetic field is creating a fluctuating electrical field which generates the current flowing through the motor. That’s what provides the motor with power. In the same way, a changing electrical field generates an electromagnetic field. When the power creating this field fluctuates, you get a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field. And that is what has a beneficial effect on the human body.

Why Do PEMFs Benefit the Human Body?

Our bodies run on electricity! Every time your heart beats, electromagnetic waves pulse through your blood vessels, stimulating tissues at cellular level.
External electromagnetic fields and regular electrical and electromagnetic fields produced within the body interact with each other. So a magnetic field penetrating our bodies will have an electromagnetic effect on each one of our 70 trillion cells.

Magnetic fields act upon our molecules and tissues to affect the most basic functions of all our cells. That’s why we get the three benefits I mentioned at the beginning of this article:

Opening the protective outer membranes of cells
Improving each cell’s ability to take in nutrition
Enhancing waste elimination.
And thus PEMF can bring about flow of fluids into and out of the cells, resulting in improved repair,
healing and regeneration.

Stimulating Chemical and Electrical Actions in the Tissues

Magnetic fields increase the movement of electrolytes and electrically charged molecules (called ions) in the tissues and fluids of the body. This action stimulates many chemical changes in the tissues of the body which enable the cells to correct imbalances and heal themselves. Every one of your cells needs energy to function. Your body manufactures a substance called adenosine triphosphate (ATP) within the cells to provide energy. ATP is basic to all cell and body functions and is needed to sustain life. APT regulates cell metabolism and transports chemical energy with our cells. Low ATP levels cause cells to become less able to heal, function or regenerate.

When electrolytes and ions are more easily able to enter your cells, your body your cells are more capable of manufacturing the energy your body needs to keep your heart beating and your muscles moving. The right type of magnetic fields applied to the body can help cells increase their energy up to 500%.

One of the most important functions of PEMFs is to enable cells to open their protective membrane to let in oxygen and nutrition. And of course, improve their ability to cleanse themselves by ejecting wastes. This enhancement helps cells to stay healthy or recover their health at the most basic level of the body’s function.

When you restore and maintain your cellular well-being, you are doing the same for the tissues and organs of the body and finally, for the body as a whole. Thus, you can maintain a higher level of health in the future It takes most people many years of unhealthy living to arrive in an unhealthy condition. Recovery is not an overnight fix. It takes correcting unhealthy lifestyles and providing your body with good nutrition and appropriate exercise. The application of PEMF enhances the healing and recovery process and can help you achieve your goal more quickly.

Dr. William Pawluk and His Work on PEMF

If you are interested in learning more about Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields and how they help the body, I highly recommend reading the book Power Tools for Health, by William Pawluk, MD, MSc and Caitlin J.Layne.
This book uses layman’s terms to explain fairly advanced physics concepts. The authors start at the very beginning of the subject, defining the basics of magnetic fields. From there, the reader is taken step-by-step to a full understanding of what Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF) are. Then the book reveals the effects of PEMF on the body and the benefits that can result. This book is available on Amazon.

Nutritional Supplementation

Most of the effects of magnetic fields happen because of the interaction between these fields and ions in the body. Therefore, the body needs healthy levels of ions and electrolytes for there to be a beneficial effect.

Minerals like calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium need to be at the right levels in the body to achieve an optimum effect. Dr. Pawluk recommends magnesium supplementation and adequate amounts of water every day when utilizing PEMFs. Additionally, some individuals (particularly women) need extra melatonin to optimize health while using PEMFs.

More About PEMF Benefits at a Cellular Level

As I mentioned earlier, I originally thought PEMF just improved circulation and nothing else. I have recently learned why PEMF improves circulation. Some health practitioners show their patients a microscopic view of their own live blood cells. I got to take a look at my cells many years ago. I was pretty shocked to see that my red blood cells were stuck to
each other! This isn’t ideal for circulation through tiny capillaries or for bringing nutrition or oxygen to every part of the body.

Injured cells can’t maintain their ideal electrical charge. That’s what was causing my red blood cells to stick together. While I didn’t realize then that this stickiness was slowing my circulation, it was easy to see that my cells were not in good shape. I know now that when the cells stick together, there is less surface area of each red blood cell available to absorb oxygen. So there won’t be as much oxygen distributed throughout the body.

When the magnetic field produced by a PEMF device passes through the red cell, the membrane becomes properly charged which allows the cell to separate itself from a group of cells. There is then an optimum amount of its surface available to absorb oxygen. Each separate, free cell is also ideally shaped to flow through the tiniest blood vessel.

A PEMF also increases the chemicals in the blood vessel walls that cause those blood vessels to dilate, increasing the amount of blood capable of flowing through those vessels. That further increases the amount of oxygen delivered to the tissues. Poor circulation makes tissues unhealthy and more prone to disease. Increased circulation helps the tissues get more nutrition and oxygen and increases the waste removal process. What’s more, when circulation increases, swelling or bruising from injuries also reduce as more nutrition goes in and wastes go out.

For a person who wishes to improve their health, reduce swelling and inflammation and increase healing on a cellular level, the use of PEMF devices is an excellent addition to their lives. As soon as I read Chapter One of Dr. Pawluk’s book Power Tools for Health, I obtained a full-body PEMF pad for use with my SpectraBrite focused light therapy device. I consider it to be a great investment in my current and future health.
